Tribeca Kool

Champagne toast at Tribeca Wines.

June 6, first June wedding of the year found us starting the day at Kyong and Brad's Tribeca loft. Luck was with us all this Saturday as the weather all week was pretty miserable. Rain and cold, rain and cold...but Saturday morning, as ordered, brilliant blue skies and that yellow thing that hangs in the sky - was out! Their loft in Tribeca provided us with a well lit space, not to mention some very good art pieces hanging on the walls. As you can see by some of these photos, we had a very photogenic and easy bride to work with. One of my favorites of the day is Kyong lying on the couch with Brad in the background seemingly ignoring her.

Rob and I walked over to Duane Park in Tribeca and met Brad and Kyong there to do a little portrait session with grit.

The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers

The lighthouse is a combination of an indoor and outdoor space. The huge terrace has windows giving us a grand view of the Hudson River. Almost like being on vacation.

The ceremony was on the terrace with the sun just about to set, creating a very warm and romantic light. Kyong and Brads's first dance was awesome to say the least and got the party rockin'. Great attention was paid to details and the flowers and design was created by Floralia Decorators, who by far are the best in the biz! The videographers for the event were a cool married couple who started doing video for weddings, of all places, Australia! I meant to ask them how they wound up in Australia, but with all of us being busy covering the event, I didn't get a chance. Scene One

hristine and Steve's wedding day started with the bride in New York at the Plaza Athenee Hotel. Christine was looking exquisite and in some kind of zen like state. I rarely see such calm and confidence in a bride. You can see and feel her self assurance in the photos especially the portrait session. Christine really gets it! She truly has a talent for relaxing and being herself in front of a camera. Meanwhile, Steve was getting ready in Westbury and was photographed by my second, Rob Lowell. The ceremony took place at Old Saint Pat's on Mott and Spring Streets. I am told that Old Saint Pat's is 200 years old and well kept up. A celebrity unto his own, Saint Pat's is an amazing place to have a wedding! The photographs come out extremely well and the colors, wow, warm and rich as you can see.

The portrait session was done near the water at Battery Park New York City , as a host of tourists provided us with the needed attention and encouragement.

Russo's on the Bay

Scene Two

C hristine and Steve's reception took place at Russo's on the Bay in Howard Beach New York. Russo's, one of the older established wedding venue, has been bringing pleasure to brides and grooms for many years. For those of you not familiar with Russo's on the Bay. Its Italian (as if the name doesn't give that away), the food is exquisite , and they are well know for their killer cocktail hour. The staff is friendly, helpful and downright unpretentious. And the room...well, take a look for yourselves.

eema and Nat's wedding is going to be a traditional Indian wedding this June 25-27th in Detroit. They are expecting nearly 500 guests to attend this two and one half day wedding extravaganza. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Indian weddings the Baraat is when the groom and his family and friends arrive to meet with his bride then both families bestow blessings on the bride and groom. Well... the grooms arrival is a pretty raucous affair, he is accompanied by musicians, drummers and dancing and singing is the rule . The groom usually arrives by horseback

H ere are a few of the engagement portrait session we had just the other day here at our studio at South Street Seaport in New York City. Even though it was a perfectly sunny day we spent most of the shoot in the studio coming up with some pretty different and creative ideas. On her wedding day coming up in June, Seema and Nat will be dressed mostly in traditional Indian wedding garb so they brought to the shoot something they would not be wearing on the wedding day. Annual Portrait Session In New York, Times Square and The Palace Hotel

Every year for the past three years, just before Christmas the Diamonte family has traveled to New York for fun and photos. We are very honored and pleased that they like out photography so much that they have returned to us for a number of years. Every year they have been coming up with a new twist on what the session should be about and this year it was about elegance and dress. Tuxedos and formal gowns... We started at the The New York Palace Hotel where the Diamontes booked a room for a few nights, if you have never seen The Palace Hotel, well, check out the website and you can see just how festive this place can be during holiday season. A great portrait session wandering around Times Square where all the tourists could not imagine or quite place the celebrities they thought they where just because they had a photographer following them around. I can't tell you how many times I get mistaken for a paparazzi and my clients as celebrities.

The Cake and a Kiss

Taylor and Steve just after cutting the cake at The Palace. Classic shot! I got lucky with this one. Camera flare from the DJ's lights created a slightly underexposed image that could have worked against me, but as I said with a little bit of luck...I like this photograph so much it made it to my website. It has everything, drama, action, a little imperfection, key members of the family in the background looking on. All the qualities of a good wedding photograph.

The Rings and a Kiss

one mo' time

This shot was taken during the portrait session, my idea regarding how to photograph a detail of the rings. I never really cared about the traditional wedding ring shot of the bride and groom holding hands in order to get a ring shot. I would much rather put a twist on the concept, add a little drama, do the unexpected and see what we may come up with. One never knows do one?
